Writing

Writing is one of the ways the Spirit of God has communicated with men. The written word of God has been passed down for centuries as men of God were inspired and moved by the Holy Spirit. This is a difficult thing to understand for an unbeliever. Many questions arise regarding how God could go about using humans to communicate his message. If a man writes it, how are we to know it truly was God who spoke it? How do we know if the man or woman wrote the words down correctly? But once a person has tasted of the waters of the Spirit, it is understood how that God could speak through whatever medium he chooses. My mentor, Bishop E. Alexander always said, "The proof is in the pudding." Those that look into the law of liberty, God's word, will be happy when it is applied (James 2:12).
We must remember that it is not about the messenger. Many messengers make it about themselves. But it is about the message that he or she carries. The characters in the Bible were not all holy. Biblical characters were not always right. Just because it is recorded, does not mean God condoned the behavior. There are testimonies, parables, and stories of God's dealings with mankind. Take the message seriously, but not the people so much. Some were very great and are are worthy of honor. Some, however, were not so great. Yet, let God judge between us all.

We at YDS believe that the work of the Spirit has continued from Genesis 1:2 through the events recorded in biblical history and as it was poured out at Pentecost when the Spirit came in to the Apostles. Subsequently, all believers afterwards can also receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We believe that we are living in the times of Acts; that the work of the church is a continuation of the same Spirit that started the work after Jesus Christ was taken up into heaven. The truths of Revelation are already at work in the world and Jesus will return at the time appointed by the Father, coming in glory to redeem his church - his body. And no one knows that hour but the Father. No matter how good of a guess, the Father has reserved that information for himself only (Matthew 24:36).
The Den
The writings contained on these web pages will reflect such a stand and comittment to the continuation of the gospel, the work of the Spirit, and the return of Christ to the world. We don't assume all our text is inspired and infallible. We are mortals, born in sin, and shaped in iniquity. We will error. But great care has been taken to be as accurate as possible and keep Christ in the center of all we do. We hope you find joy and the Spirit at work here. Moreover, we pray a word touches you, increases your knowledge, and brings you to a love for Christ. And that is who Christ is, not who we or anyone else make him out to be. He is a person. Get to know him. If you already know him, get closer. Get deeper. You'll be glad you did.
Blessings in Christ Jesus!
